My time as an intern at Duo allowed me to grow both technically and professionally. I was given the trust and opportunity to work on real problems that our customers faced. The challenging work and the culture that Duo has built are why I’m still here today!

Why Intern at Duo?
Duo interns work on front-line projects that make real contributions to Duo’s organization. In addition to on-the-job experience, Duo’s internship program caters to the career interests of our interns so they fully benefit from their time with us. Duo believes in the future leaders of the world and sees the importance of investing in our interns' growth!
Cisco + Duo show how much we value our interns by offering competitive market (hourly) rates, health and medical benefits, paid holidays and accrued sick pay, plus interns can participate in internal volunteering initiatives and events! However, the best perk is the opportunity to work hands-on with a team and tackle real projects for the summer.
What Makes Duo's Internship Program Different from Others?
At Duo, interns won’t make coffee runs or work on projects that don’t scale or are in a silo. Duo interns work on projects that have a meaningful impact on the business. In fact, we’ve had intern projects that are currently being used by customers!
Our mission and vision is to:
Cultivate a positive learning experience, enabling interns to make meaningful contributions to Duo and Cisco Security through impactful project work.
Create opportunities for interns to develop skills through trainings and workshops.
Facilitate purposeful gatherings and generate networking opportunities for interns to build lasting connections.
We value learning together. Duo’s internship program is geared toward providing real-life project work that helps interns tap into their true potential, discover interests and expand their toolkit. Throughout the program interns can expect learning opportunities like our Intern Interview Training and Cisco Design Thinking Training. Our program also cultivates an environment where interns are encouraged to take risks, ask questions and share ideas.
What’s work without a little fun? Aside from project work, we provide Duo interns with many opportunities to make connections with interns across Duo and Cisco Security. Over the past couple of years, Duo has facilitated virtual activities such as trivia, capture the flag and a coffee chat with our leaders! In addition to intern-specific activities, Duo Interns are invited to participate in the Cisco Security Internship Program and the Cisco Intern Experience.
Don’t just take our word for it. Get an inside perspective from Duo interns in our blog.
What is the Cisco Security Internship Program Experience?
In summer 2022, Cisco Security piloted a unified programming experience, for interns across Cisco Security to join remote friendly events like a virtual chocolate tasting with Delysia and an Intern Giveback activity with WeHero! Alongside the robust event schedule, the Cisco Security employee experience team facilitated multiple Q&A sessions for Interns to hear from industry leaders like Shailia Shankar, TK Keanini and Pat Chatterson!
In addition to intern-specific activities, Cisco Security facilitates remote-friendly, company-wide events that interns are invited to join, like intern appreciation week and social media takeovers! And also, all the swag.
With Duo's internship program the work you do matters. You're placed onto a real team, working on real problems faced by real customers. Things you do will end up being used by millions of end users, which is extremely exciting. There's no limit to what you'll be allowed to do, meaning the summer is packed with exciting projects and impactful work.
